--- Comment #56 from Michael <michael-a-matthews(a)live.com> 2010-05-22 10:52:24 ---
I installed git and followed steps for regression testing here:
http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting
But building 32-bit Wine on 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04 is difficult.
Wine current git:
$ CC="ccache gcc -m32" ./configure --verbose
(snipped)
checking for -lfreetype... not found
configure: error: FreeType 32-bit development files not found. Fonts will not
be built.
Use the --without-freetype option if you really want this.
Is the freetype error something I can ignore?
If not, how can I fix it?

This previous comment seems the most useful:

I will now look into getting crash dumps, logs, glxinfo, and whatever was
requested in this bug report. As a Wine user, I'd really like to see this fixed
in 1.2 or some development release shortly after 1.2.

Thanks, this worked for me, except that I had to patch wine-1.1.43 and I don't
think you can apply that patch against wine-1.1.25 (the patched file doesn't
even contain the patched function). Other than that, NFSU2 works fine with the
patch and native dinput8 :)

Older Irfan View versions do not crash in newer Wine releases, however
IrfanView toolbar appearance is broken - if it's advisable I will file a new
bug report.

It should be noted Irfan worked around this bug in the latest IrfanView...
http://www.irfanview.com/main_history.htm (Search page for "Wine" for the very
vague changelog note about it).
Are we sure the bug in Wine is fixed, and the OLD version of IrfanView no
longer crashes?
