Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc3
Platform: x86

Status: UNCONFIRMED

winefile >msi.log 2>&1 E:\Adobe Acrobat....\Acrobat\Setup.exe
Am not able to install Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extended
Steps:
mv ~/.wine ~/.wine-bak
winecfg and set E => /media/cdrw
winefile E:\Adobe Acrobat...\Acrobat\Setup.exe
Enter serial #
Select "Typical" or "Complete"
Setup begins copying files, writing registry, then at around 95% done,
when it gets to
"Optimizing Performance: Feature Program Extended Language Support"
wine reports:
"The program msiexec.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience. This can be caused by a problem in the
program
or a deficiency in Wine. ..."
Acrobat is then left partially installed.
I cannot uninstall it nor can I modify/repair the installation.
Hence the precaution of moving ~/.wine to ~/.wine-bak

--- Comment #23 from Eliot Blennerhassett <ewblen+wine(a)gmail.com> 2010-06-29 23:45:31 ---
Just to clarify, as it is maybe not obvious from the descriptions unless you
use OrCad.
Orcad has a main drawing window. When "Place Part" is activated, a dialog box
appears allowing selection of the part to be placed. Then click OK, the dialog
closes, the focus returns to the main window, with the part to be placed
attached to the cursor. Clicking the mouse then places the part into the
schematic.
Even with Comment#3 patch, if the cursor is moved outside the Orcad window, and
back in, the windows repaints and the part is no longer attached to the cursor.
So as #3 suggests, the problem is something to do with loss of focus of the
main window.

I'm not a developer, but some time ago elsewhere it was mentioned that current
Xi2 lacks some functionality. See wiki page for Bug 6971

What else can be to blame?

With wine-1.2-rc5 this error is not present, however when starting demo, there
is "OK/Cancel" window with "MEM_BAD_POINTER" (title bar says SmartHeap
Library).
When I disabled music and clicked OK in above window multiple times, I was able
to get into the menu. When I started game it crashed right after intro.
In any case, bug related to heap process seams fixed.
