> Still valid wine 1.9.24 and staging 1.9.23.
I did some testing.
Patches from patches list fix this issue too. With the patch applied there is a
grey box on 1st run.

So it seems that this bug is actually a dupe and should be merged so.

Bug ID: 42089
Summary: Add dependency/sub-component linking
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: appdb-unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: jhansonxi(a)gmail.com
Distribution: ---
Many apps rely on major sub-components from third-parties. It would be
beneficial to identify these in an app entry to avoid duplication of
installation guides and workarounds for them, and to facilitate bug reporting.
For example: QuickTime, Internet Explorer, NET Framework, Adobe Flash, Java,
SecuROM.
I would like to see an expandable list for an app that lists dependencies,
their versions, ratings, and links to related guides or wiki entries.
This would also help with bug reporting. For example bug #34989 (Caphyon
Advanced Installer breakage) would reference an AppDB entry for that component
only. All other apps that have it as a dependency would automatically be shown
in the AppDB "affected apps" listing for that bug.
AppDB entries for components that don't have testable standalone executables
wouldn't have test reports of their own. They would need a reverse look-up of
dependent apps that have been tested. Identifying and matching-up related
version numbers could be difficult however.

This is a Valuesoft DVD-rom title from 2007.
It install fine, but the menu item it installs doesn't work,
it just puts up a dialog that says "There is no Windows program configured to
open this kind of file."
That icon tries to do
wine C:\\windows\\command\\start.exe /Unix
~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/users/Public/Start\ Menu/Programs/Games\ Of\ The\
Month/18\ Wheels\ of\ Steel\ Big\ City\ Rigs/18\ Wheels\ of\ Steel\ American\
Longhaul.lnk
That .lnk file points to
C:\Program Files\Games Of The Month\18 Wheels of Steel Big City Rigs\18 Wheels
of Steel American Long Haul\Play.hta
.hta is an "html application", a trusted .html file; see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms536496(v=vs.85).aspx
(The .hta doesn't do anything particularly useful; it just uses vbscript
and WShell to launch alh.exe, like the verschluggener icon should
have, so the workaround is pretty easy: point the icon at alh.exe.
The .hta might do one little useful thing: center the window on the screen.)

TechNet HTA test
Xubuntu 14.04 x86_64, AMD Phenom 9550, Wine Staging
Windows Version: Windows XP
Encountered this problem while investigating a workaround for bug #26463
affecting the CD game "18 Wheels Of Steel: Big City Rigs" (includes American
Long Haul, Garbage Truck, and Bus Simulator).
Installed IE7 via winetricks 20161005 and set override for mshta.exe to native.
Executing the CD autorun installer works but the window is the wrong size and
images are duplicated (see attached screenshots).
wine reg.exe ADD HKCU\\Software\\Wine\\DllOverrides /v "mshta.exe" /t REG_SZ /d
"native,builtin"
wine C:\\windows\\command\\start.exe /d d:\\ d:\\autorun.exe Launch.hta
I peformed two other tests - a basic "HTA Test" example script from TechNet
(attached) and getdate, a simple date calculator from Rob van der Woude.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee692768.aspxhttp://www.robvanderwoude.com/files/getdate_hta.txt
HTA Test loads a window with a button to start the script but clicking the
butto causes a large blank dialog window to pop up.
The getdate script loads an oversized window with a series blank dialogs in
front (can be closed). Language in visible pull-downs is not English.
Attempting to use a pull-down results in more blank dialogs.
Tests performed on Wine with IE7 (7.00.5730.13). Windows Script Host 5.6 and
5.7 used. Corefonts installed. Both tests work in WinXP with same version of
IE7 installed.
Note that the version of mshta.exe always matches that of Internet Explorer.
Testing other versions of IE7 in Wine is difficult due to the lack of
standalone installers. Full version list:

The getdate script generates an error "Object expected".

AIMP http://www.aimp.ru/ works perfectly on wine and I like it more than any
OSX music player, but I am having the big issue described in this video:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/v8mbpstyqjcaw ... 5.mp4?dl=0
Basically, while the software is running on the foreground, with mouse focused
on it, the music plays perfectly for as long as I want. When the software goes
to the background (I use other programs and apps) after around 30s - 1 minute,
the sound freezes, repeating the last second of sound endlessly.
Here is another video showing quickly the problem in an even more obvious way.
When it starts stuttering and then I just mouseover on the player window, the
sound is back https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ardjn16jce51 ... 9.mp4?dl=0:
I am using currently wine 2.0rc2, installed using brew. But I was having the
same problem with previous wine versions. I tried renice for setting higher
priority to the process but it does not seem to be related with anything like
that.
I attach the messages I was getting on my Terminal window while doing the test,
not sure if there is anything relevant there.

Summary: Out of memory error in Cyber Chess
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc6
Platform: x86
URL: http://www.zdnetasia.com/downloads/windows/cyber-chess
_sw-39349263.htm
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
This bug applies to the game Cyber Chess by Cosmi, both the retail CD-ROM and
downloadable trial.
The trial can be downloaded from
https://www.cosmi.com/login.aspx?Next=Download&Matnr=CDRS831 (registration
required) or e.g.
http://www.zdnetasia.com/downloads/windows/cyber-chess_sw-39349263.htm (no
registration required). It's about 80MB.
Just before starting a game (after the FMV sequence), there is a dialog box
which says "Sorry, not enough memory to proceed. Quitting".
The Cosmi web site
http://www.cosmi.com/cgi-script/csFAQ/csFAQ.pl?command=viewFAQ&database=Cyb…
points to an article on the Microsoft web site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894472 "Third-party programs that require lots
of memory do not run in Windows XP Service Pack 2".
The MS article says: "This hotfix includes a new Xpsp2res.dll file that
dynamically finds a memory location to reduce virtual memory fragmentation.
Before you apply this hotfix, we recommend that you ask the vendor of your
programs to verify that this solution is acceptable. This hotfix enables the
new Xpsp2res.dll file to find a memory location dynamically and reduce virtual
memory fragmentation."
With Windows Vista, the out of memory dialog also appears. However, the game
runs okay under Vista in XP SP2 compatibility mode. The out of memory dialog
appears when running the game under Wine in XP mode.

Summary: IDA Pro 6.8: can't split windows to tabs
Product: Wine
Version: 2.0-rc2
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Mac OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: teddyb(a)mailinator.com
Running IDA Pro 6.8 for Windows (32 bit) using Wine 2.0 rc2 for macOS,
when trying to split different windows, the process stops responding.
IDA has a feature that allows dragging windows in order to split them so you
can watch multiple windows in one monitor. When dragging, an overlay of 4
arrows appear in the center of the screen. Dragging the window to an arrow puts
the window in the arrow direction.
Using the above setup, the behavior is not as expected. Instead, the dragged
window stays in "dragging mode", and the rest of the process disappears.
Clicking with the mouse of pressing any key doesn't do anything - the only
solution is to close the Wine process.
