I've emailed them about compiling on Mono, but, though they're exploring that possibility, they're not ready to that quite yet. Searching for ".NET Framework" in the search box on www.winehq.org and in comp.emulators.ms-windows.wine doesn't find your very useful statement that this feature will definitely not be added any time soon. I think this is a duplicate of bug 4894. This trick helped with another application that had the same problem (mentioned in comment 13) .
