Summary: Error when installing programs using InstallShield
[unknown version]
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.13.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: wine-programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ki4hrg(a)gmail.com
Whenever I attempt to install a program using this version of InstallShield (I'm
not sure which version, it's the same one used by all recent Google Earth and
Google SketchUp updates), it generates an error (screenshot attached) telling me
I need to close any running programs, empty my temporary folder, and check my
internet connection. This is error code -6005. I have checked everything it
mentions to no avail. This prevents installation of all programs using this version.

After trying to install another program using the same version of InstallShield,
I've figured out that the problem lies NOT with Google Earth or wine, but with
InstallShield. THus, I'm resolving this bug and starting a new one more targeted
to the InstallShield issue.

Attempted to install Google Earth under Windows XP mode following the
instructions found at http://www.mozmarks.com/james/node/13 and in the
application page. Whenever I try to run the installer in Windows XP or 2000
mode, it produces an InstallShield error (screenshot attached). The program is
not compatible with any other version of Windows.

On my machine if I start the X with depth 16 it goes further to the login screen
of battlenet before it crashes. Maybe this rings a bell, probably not, though :(.

Hi, could you retry using wine-0.9.13 please. I can reproduce this bug in
wine-0.9.10 by pushing "." twice in wine-0.9.10, but in wine-0.9.13 this seems
to be fixed, as it doesn't crash anymore. Could you try and report back? Thanks.

Is my bug (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5269) really a duplicate of
this one? My game plays and sound almost works right, but tones in the chip
music last too long into rests and sometimes overlap themselves making little
loud spikes.
I get different errors too:
err:dsound:DSOUND_MixInBuffer length not a multiple of block size, len = 7301,
block size = 2
Has the error message changed since wine 0.9.13?

I am trying to solve the same problem.
There is a workaround for the crash at the start of serial communication:
set the emulated windows version to Win 95.
With wine 0.9.11 and mapsource 6.9.1 I was able to get the ID and download data
from gps.
Sending maps to gps however freezes and mapsource reports an error after some time.
With wine 0.9.13 it fails to detect the device and strace shows SIGSEGV several
lines after the /dev/ttyS0 is opened.
