Summary: FPS breakdown in World of Warcraft
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.41.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-opengl
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: udettmer(a)gmx.net
>From time to time my frame rate in World of Warcraft suddenly severely degrades
from an average 25 fps to about 2 fps. This happens preferably in wide open
areas or when there are lots of graphical effects visible (e.g. druid hurricane).
After some time the frame rate will jump back to normal, but usually not for long.
My Config:
openSuSE 10.2 x64
wine 9.34, 9.39-9.41 (currently 9.41)
WoW 2.1.3 (running in OpenGL mode)
nvidia driver x86-64 100.14.11
CPU: Athlon X2 4200+
Mainboard: Gigabye K8NF-9
GPU: GeForce 6600GT
RAM: 2 GB

"Running it in a virtual desktop works around
the issue."
How can I do that?

Confirmed in wine 0.9.41. Disallowing window manager shows the window buttons,
but still causes the black desktop. Running it in a virtual desktop works around
the issue.

The problem shown in the sample program is that MDI resizes windows which are
not resizable. I'll attach a patch which resolves the problem for me
