Summary: simcity 3000: cannot set directory
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.41.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P4
Component: wine-shell32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tijl(a)ulyssis.org
SimCity 3000 installs fine, but when trying to play the game, the following
message appears and the program exits.
err:exec:SHELL_ExecuteW cannot set directory L"c:\\Program
Files\\Maxis\\SimCity 3000\\Game\\SC3.EXE"
err:exec:SHELL_ExecuteW cannot set directory L"c:\\Program
Files\\Maxis\\SimCity 3000\\Game\\SC3.EXE"
If I can make a guess, I would say it cannot set the directory because the
path refers to a file.

Summary: Dictionnary Robert and Collins does not work
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.31.
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.biostatisticien.eu/dico.ace
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: plafaye(a)club-internet.fr
You can download the soft here:
http://www.biostatisticien.eu/dico.ace
You need unace to decompress it.
I tried the dictionnary Robert and Collins soft with wine version 0.9.31 and
0.9.41 but it does not work. This is on a new PC.
The soft installs correctly but when i do a "wine CREFWIN.EXE" there is an error
message. The error message (from the soft) is: Error ID ERR_?????=1024
The soft is unusable since this error message appears every time you click on a
word (in the list of words) to obtain its translation.
The soft is still working on my old PC with wine 0.9.31.
So this may be some kind of fonts problem, or encoding.
I tried to copy and paste the .wine directory from the working PC to the new PC
but this did not help.
Thank you to help me solving this problem.
Best regards,
Pierre

Alright, thank you for clarification. Just one more thing. Does the pointer
being re-centered? Or is it getting stuck in any place one the screen?
And could you try this game with native dinput.dll & dinput8.dll?

I use Wine 0.9.40 on Debian GNU/Linux and followed the DK2 instructions
(http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=3696). So I applied the No-CD
crack and the mouse fix. But everytime I start DK2, wine crashes with
err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 40 bytes in thread 001b eip 003416f7 esp
00230fd8 stack 0x231000-0x340000
In windowed mode, I don't see any error message, but the game doesn't start either.

I'm very sorry, I just misinterpreted the results of the tests. 'net' utility
(as well as 'expand') uses libc version of *printf instead of msvcrt. It is not
surprising that text was printed in xterm instead of wineconsole.
Bugfix I sent http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-July/041317.html
> The reason is hidden in AllocConsole - Windows keeps StdHandles values,
allowing to use smth like:
This issue has nothing with originally posted bug. Now I hardly believe anybody
needs StdHandles kept during FreeConsole/AllocConsole, so i mark this bug as
invalid.

The semantics of WSASendTo on a blocking TCP socket provided by my patch are
correct, and not only do the tests prove it, but several apps break without it.
What happens for this app is that the loop that sends data is entered, the
timeout is infinite so poll() gets told to sleep until the socket is writable,
but poll() returns immediately indicating the socket is writable, so WS2_send()
gets called which calls sendmsg(), but it sends 0 bytes, so the loop continues
leading to 100% CPU usage.
There is a major problem here, not with wine but with the Linux poll() that lies
to us and says we can send while we actually can't. I'll need to look into it
further.

*36 and 39.
Anyway, I discovered the full game is content to run directly off CD, so I won't
be installing it. However, the bug is still present.
The problem begins roughly one second after the copyright screen before the main
menu appears, and persists until you quit the game. The cursor simply refuses to
move. You can attempt to move it, but it keeps "snapping" back to the same
position. (If you've seen the "cursor over crosshair" problem in FPS games, it's
pretty much the same effect, except you only see the game cursor, which is
behaving this way.) You CAN still click on whatever's under the cursor, but
since you can't move it, that's not exactly useful.
